Paolo Ulian’s Compressioni project explores a new way of shaping sheetmetal, unveiling a surprising level of expressiveness. The collectionincludes a basket, a centerpiece, and an unprecedented object—all firstturned on a lathe and then carefully compressed to achieve their finalform. Through a series of trials with a master turner, Ulian discoveredthat the deformations caused by compression could be controlled,resulting in fascinating geometric patterns, squares, pentagons,hexagons, and octagons. The outcome: unique pieces defined by theharmony of their singularity.
