- COLDfire® is a special hardening treatment for making metal stronger, tougher and more durable. This cryogenic process is a one-time permanent treatment affecting the entire screwdriving bit and it is not just a surface coating. The cryogenic process consists of two steps, firstly the bit is hardened by heating it up to 870° and then freezing the bit down to -148° using a dry nitrogen atmosphere. The result of this process is a bit with exceptional durability;
